Turning housing into a home
Securing stable housing is a life-changing moment for a family. Often, families who are getting settled after experiencing homelessness have little to no homegoods and a very small monthly budget. Essentials like towels, bedding, plates, cups, utensils, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies can quickly max out a budget, not to mention basic furniture like beds, chairs, and tables. This is where Nashville Community Connections steps in! We maintain both an inventory of essential housewares as well utilize funding from our HERO Family Fund to support families in this critical transition to stability.
Program in action
We work with HERO qualified students and their families after housing has been secured to identify if there are specific, critical housewares or available furniture we can match with the family. We then deliver these items to the family’s new residence. During this exchange we have the opportunity to share additional referral services to support the family as they continue to settle into their new home.
